Meet Sadek

Sadek's Background
Sadek Rahman is a mechanical engineer and manager at a leading automotive OEM in Detroit. A naturalized U.S. citizen, he was born in Bangladesh and earned his engineering degrees from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). After graduating, he spent three years lecturing at BUET. He played cricket for the Mechanical Engineering faculty team while at BUET.

He then came to the United States to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University. In addition, he holds an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University and an Executive Certificate from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Sadek’s blend of international experience, technical expertise, and business acumen drives his commitment to innovation and excellence—both on and off the field.

In his free time, Sadek enjoys reading books, playing table tennis, and biking. He lives in Troy with his wife and two sons—one currently in college and the other in high school.
Civic & Professional Service

Currently, Sadek serves on the City of Troy’s Historic District Commission. Previously, he served on Troy’s Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
In addition to his civic involvement, Sadek holds leadership roles in several professional organizations. He is the current Vice President of the Asian Business Resource Group at his workplace and serves as the General Secretary of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA). He also previously served as the Michigan Chapter President of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) and as the Director of Membership for the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Detroit chapter.
Sadek enjoys mentoring young engineering professionals and supporting their career development. He has actively organized numerous career development and networking events in Troy and throughout the greater Detroit area.
Sadek's Leadership Plan
Sadek is running for City Council because he believes in building a safer, stronger, and more sustainable community for every Troy resident. Sadek's key priorities that will define his leadership can be grouped into three main areas:

1. Public Safety
2. Infrastructure
3. Quality of Life
If elected, he will work alongside the mayor and fellow council members to champion the needs and priorities of Troy residents. That means ensuring that Troy city management actively seeks out the best solutions by learning from other cities, engaging with expert organizations, and leveraging innovative strategies.
Once the best solutions are identified, securing funding becomes the next critical step. Sadek will work to maximize support from the state and federal government while also exploring creative funding options, such as municipal bonds and grants, to make Troy's vision a reality.
But that’s not enough—true progress requires constant collaboration between city leadership and the Troy community. That means open communication with residents, businesses, city departments, and local organizations to prioritize initiatives and ensure that every voice is hear

If I earn your vote, I promise to give my full commitment to this process—because only by working together can we make Troy the best city in Oakland County and one of the finest in the entire nation.
So, I need your support. I can’t do this alone. I need your vote, your ideas, and your engagement. Together, we will make Troy stronger, safer, and more prosperous for all.
