Sadek Rahman Announces Official Campaign at
Kickoff Event for Troy City Council with Local Officials in Attendance
Troy, MI, July 14, 2025 — Sadek Rahman, longtime resident of Troy and former member of the Troy Planning Commission and Zoning Board as well as a current member of the Troy Historic District Commission, proudly announced his campaign kickoff for Troy City Council, with a celebratory launch event on July 14, 2025 at the Balkan American Community Center. The event was very well attended and included several local elected officials, including MI State Representative Sharon MacDonell (MI-56) and Troy City Council Members Theresa Brooks and Hirak Chanda.

Sadek Rahman stated, “I was honored that so many of my friends and supporters attended our Campaign Kick Off. It is very rewarding that they share my enthusiasm for the City of Troy and believe in me. Over the years, I have worked diligently on the Troy Planning Commission, Zoning Board and Historic District Commission to help our wonderful city thrive. I hope to be able to continue this work in the role of City Council Member."

Sadek Rahman is running for Troy City Council because he would like to build a Safer, Stronger and more Sustainable Troy. His three main priorities are to Strengthen Public Safety and Community Trust, Enhance Infrastructure and Public Services, and to elevate the Quality of Life for all residents. Make Troy more walkable – Add sidewalks, crosswalks, and safer streets for pedestrians.

Fix the library – Modernize spaces so students can actually study and focus.

Better parks & hangout spots – Invest in teen-friendly, community-centered spaces.

More diverse sports – Support activities like badminton and cricket that reflect Troy’s diversity.

Support teachers – Increase classroom funding and educational resources.

Internships & Job Opportunities – Help Young People Build Experience and Connect with Local Careers.

Include youth voices – Young residents want a real seat at the table.
